lyrics

He sat there alone, waiting watching, thought his face looked too severe.
When she approached him he felt his heart in his throat.

But she couldn't take her eyes off him, she nearly fell in the street.
Her laces bound and her mouth all filled with cotton.

She took his pain away.
She took his pain away.
Standing high upon the branches of the Joshua tree,
She calls to him.

When he tried to hug her that very first time with cautious optimism
They both had hoped that the other one felt the same

Then the first time that their bodies touched, he enveloped her in his arms
It was strange at first, so he asked to try again.

He can be strong again.
He can be strong again.
Climbing up among the thorny knife-like leaves,
They block the sun.

Now he couldn't keep his hands off her, he could tell she felt the same
She made him feel safe, he made her open up to him.

When they fell asleep, to dream of love, to wake together once again.
He always wondered which time would be their last.
